Hiking to Bisara top through Katarmal, Almora

We were just sitting and chilling in the winter sun. The thought of going to Bisara top came randomly to my mind and we decided to go for a hike around 4 pm to see the sunset from the top. Somehow we got little late and started at 4:15 pm from the place where we were staying in Katarmal. Katarmal is a village located in Kumaon division in Almora district, Uttarakhand, India, and Bisara is another nearby village next to Katarmal.

On our way to BISRA top
We were rushing towards the stop as the sunset in winters are early. Up to Katarmal village, there is steep slope during which you just have to encourage yourself to proceed.

Katarmal Village
There is one specialty about Katarmal of which not many people are aware. Other than the famous Sun temple in Konark there is another rarest of rarest Sun Temple in Katarmal also. It was constructed by the Katyuri Kings in the 9th century. There are 44 smaller temples around the main deity of Surya. There is roadway also to reach Sun temple. It is situated on Ranikhet-Almora-Kosi road. From Almora to reach Sun temple, it will take almost 19 km. We didn't go inside the temple as we were getting late for the sunset as such I have been to the temple many times but I managed to take some pictures of the temple from outside.

Some other pics of the temple
Indeed it's a beautiful and serene place to admire the beauty of the valley from the Sun temple. After clicking pics I was literally running to catch up with mine friends.

Walking and walking.....
I was the desperate one to reach the top soon as I was getting tired and there were lots of monkeys on our way.

Finally about to reach the top
There was one small temple on the Bisara top. Usually, in the hilly region temples are made on the top of the hill.

We reached exactly in time before sunset. Personally, I love the colors in the sky during sunset. It seems like a beautiful painting made by the creator (god). Everything seems so beautiful and serene and witnessing sunsets in hills is just an amazing experience. It just manifolds the beauty of nature to a different level.

Magnificient Sunset
After Sunset
The view was spectacular from the top. Everything was just Pristine and heavenly.

On our way back
On our way back we took a short route and found out one guest house of Archeological Survey of India in Katarmal.

Guest House
Lack of opportunities in the hill region in Uttarakhand is continuously leading the migration which finally causing abandonment of the villages. You must be thinking why all of a sudden I jumped into this topic. Actually, when we were heading back, we came across some abandon traditional houses in the bad state.

Abandon Traditional House
We were walking really fast to reach home as it was getting dark. We managed to cross half the path in light but after that, we switched our phone lights. I was little scared also as many times Panther has been seen in the area. Walking, Running and Hopping we managed to reach home around 6:20 pm safely.

Altogether we had so much fun and enjoyed this short hike.
