We struggled a little bit to reach the Nehru Planetarium. We were tired by the time we reached Nehru Planetarium as we started our journey from colaba in the morning in a taxi visiting Hanging Garden, Mahalaxmi temple, Dhakleshwar Mahadev Temple, Haji Ali and finally to Nehru Planetarium. From Mahalaxmi temple we decided to go by walk to the rest of places as they were one next to the other. In case you feel so tired you can take taxi anytime. As we started walking from Haji Ali we were able to see the Nehru Centre building from far away as it so prominent and different in a good way.
Nehru Planetarium is a dome shaped building located in Worli, Mumbai named after India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and is inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi on 6 February 1984. We reached Nehru Planetarium around 1:30 pm so we had to wait almost an hour for the tickets. By the mean time we thought of visiting Nehru center which is at walking distance to the Nehru Planetarium. The architecture of Nehru Planetarium is just amazing which separate it from all the neighboring buildings. As we reached the center and saw a serpentine queue waiting outside the center we dropped the idea to visit the Nehru Planetarium and went back to Nehru Planetarium and waited near the cafeteria and ordered samosas which I wish I would never have again. They were so bad in taste. I will suggest you guys to take eating stuff from home. As soon as the ticket counter opens we finally managed to get the tickets for 3 pm show. Its an informative place to take your kids and family. As we entered the complex they have chambers depicting different planets and interesting fact is that you can know what will be your weight on these planets. On our way to the theatre we came across different models related to the space and planets as shown in the pictures below.
After clicking some pictures on the way to theatre we went inside the theatre as the show was about to begin. Werushed and took our allotted seats. Seats as such were so uncomfortable. They took some time to start the show. Indeed its refreshing to lay on the seats and look up into the screen full of different planets. At moments it look real. The show run for half an hour only. After the show we took a taxi back to home. There are number of taxis lined up outside the Nehru Planetarium.
