MUMBAI DIARIES (Page 2) : TARAPOREVALA AQUARIUM

Hi guys!
In Mumbai Diaries our next destination is Taraporevala Aquarium. As you know from my earlier post my parents were here at Mumbai for sometime and for the mean time we were just roaming around the city. As such I used to think I have to visit all the tourist places in Mumbai past two years but it never happened until my parents came here. My father had a long list of places where he wanted to visit in Mumbai and Taraporevala Aquarium was one of them. I had a blur memory of the Aquarium from the first trip to mumbai in my school days. I was skeptical what new to expect from the place as it has undergone renovation recently.
Taraporevala Aquarium is India's oldest aquarium which host marine and fresh water fishes. Its city's one the main attraction. It is located on Marine Drive in Mumbai. It took us approximately 10 minutes from Colaba to reach the Aquarium by the vintage kaali peeli taxi.

The artistic exteriors of the Aquarium is quite appealing. As we entered the gate, there were ticket counters on the left side. Tickets are of reasonable price for Indian citizen Rs 60 for adult and Rs 30 for children. Photography fee is enormous; for mobile photography it is Rs 500 and Rs 1000 for cameras. We prefer not to take the pictures and just enjoy.

Details of fees and timings of the Aquarium
Our Ticket

Aquarium remains opens on Tuesday to Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM . On Sunday and Public holidays it remains open from 10 AM to 9 PM. On Monday the Aquarium remains closed. Details of entry fees, photography fees and Aquarium timing is mentioned in the above picture. I have taken this pic outside the ticket counter.

On entering the Aquarium you will be greeted by the glass tunnel of about 4 inches displaying exotic fishes. It looks amazing. Inside the Aquarium there are so many different types of fishes, turtles and sea snakes too. Along with the fauna the background given to each aquarium makes the experience more mesmerizing.

Its not the world class Aquarium with sharks and turtles swimming above and beside you in a glass tunnel but its worth watching especially if you have kids or family with you. Its the best place in Mumbai to enjoy the underneath sea beauty.
We personally had a good time at the Aquarium. I hope you would enjoy too.
