You can reach the temple by train, bus or booking a cab or taxi. Dadar is the nearest railway station for the temple. I do believe in god but I don't visit temples often. Believing in god gives you a hope, faith and stength. Living in Mumbai for more then 2 years I have been to Siddhivinayak three times. This time I visited with my parents. We booked a cab for the temple. Cab driver dropped us in front of the temple. There were several stalls and shop selling Chadava/ Prasad with multiple baskets of different prices containing fresh flower garland, few loose flowers, Chunari, a box with four to five modaks (sweets). They also offer to look after your footwears once you take prasad from their shop. They do make a chaos situation there. There are some shops inside also and there is a corner inside the temple premises which provide you a facility to keep your footwears.
After taking Prasad from outside shop we stand in the queue. The queue was not long as we visited the temple in morning hours. Generally you will find serpentine queue outside the temple especially on tuesdays and weekends. From my experience good thing about the queue here is that it moves fast. Taking camera inside is not permissible/taking photographs inside is prohibited. So, its better not to take cameras as we were not aware of this thing so we paid Rs 20 and kept the camera in the locker with the policeman. After security check we finally entered the temple premises. There are different entry into the temple: if you are willing to stand in long queue there is free entry and if you want direct entry than there is special pass entry ticket for which you have to pay Rs 50. This is the one thing I hate about the temples the commercialisation in the name of god.
We also opt for Rs 50 entry per person. Finally, the saffron coloured Shri Ganesha idol was in front of us embellished with flower garlands and gold. We enjoyed the momentary peace and happiness under the shade of Lord Shri Ganesha. At times, we heard a voice asking people to move. After offering prasad to god with full faith we moved out. My parent were so happy and satisfied after the darsan. They were so keen to visit Siddhivinayak temple.
There were four silver mice statues as we move out of the main temple. It is believed if you whisper your wish in their ears, they will take your wish to Shri Ganesha. After whispering in the ears of silver mice we went out. On the left side inside the temple premises you will get mahaprasad one packet for Rs 20 containing one big ladoo and coconut barfi.
After the temple visit we were filled with positivity, faith, peace and strength.
