MUMBAI DIARIES (Page 1) : GATEWAY OF INDIA

Hi guys!
Hope you all are doing good....
From today I am starting a series of posts titled under MUMBAI DIARIES in which I will let you know about the tourist attraction points you need to visit when you are in Mumbai.
Starting with the Gateway of India. When you think about Mumbai which monument comes to your mind at first? Gateway of India! Isn't it..

How to Reach Gateway:  If you are in Mumbai you can take a train to Churchgate as Churchgate is the nearest railway station to the Gateway of India and from there you can avail a taxi or you can book cab or taxi throughout which will be a costly affair in comparison to train. One advice for those opting for train avoid going during peek office hours to avoid mad rush.

The Gateway of India is one of the prized monument which was built in 1924 in Mumbai city of Maharashtra, which is located at Apollo Bunder Waterfront in Southern Mumbai. The monument was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai.

I have visited Gateway of India many times as I am in Mumbai for nearly two years. My recent visited to Gateway of India was on 27 December 2016 with my Parents. We started from the house which itself is in South Mumbai around 11:30 am and it hardly took us 10 to 15 minutes by taxi to reach Gateway of India. On reaching Gateway of India we were awestruck by the tourist and locals rush at the entry point to Gateway of India. There were two long queue of women and men separate at the security check post of Gateway of India. But all the wait is worth when you witness the glory of the iconic monument the Gateway of India. There is no entry fee and you can visit Gateway of India anytime, any day. December to March is the perfect time to visit Mumbai as weather is so pleasant.

Just opposite to the Gateway of India you can see the most prestigious hotel of India the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel which manifolds the beauty of this place. After getting the essence of the Monument I started clicking pictures of the monument and Taj hotel with my Parents. There you will find photographers with digital cameras who click a picture for Rs 30 and will give it you on the spot. My Papa got three pictures of us clicked together for Rs 90. Once you get one pic clicked by the photographers they happily click good pics with your camera too.

There are boat rides available to Elephanta caves and Alibaug also from 9 AM till evening at Gateway of India. Boat ride in itself is a wonderful experience.
I am not going to include Elephanta caves in Mumbai Diaries post as I have written a post earlier on Elephanta caves. So, you can refer that post http://comfortcolour.blogspot.in/2016/12/a-long-awaited-trip-to-elephanta-caves.html if you want to visit the caves.
